Writing
Writing postgraduate courses offer a fusion of writing as a creative practice and critical study as an exploration of contemporary media, art and popular culture.
The approach to learning, teaching and research situates creative practice at the heart of critical and theoretical exploration. This approach incorporates a wide field of theoretical and practice-based studies, including fiction, non-fiction, writing for screen, poetry, popular cultures, film, music, the written word, aesthetics and poetics, on-line media, international and Indigenous studies.
Since its inception in the 1980s, UTS has maintained its reputation as Australia's leading academic course for cultural critics and creative writers at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, with an outstanding record of publications, awards and literary prizes, grants and international residencies where both students and staff are concerned. Staff and students also connect with a range of professional, industry-based and applied research as well as with publishers, the publishing industry and film funding bodies.
