Distinguished graduate wins 2012 Sydney Peace Prize

Winner of the 2012 Sydney Peace Prize, Zimbabwean politician Sekai Holland, has a long association with Australia. A communicatiions graduate of the NSW Institute of Technology, UTS's predecessor institution, she has been recognised for "a lifetime of outstanding courage in campaigning for human rights and democracy.

In 2012 a prominent Australian writer will be selected nationally as the first CAL Non-Fiction Writer-In Residence. The selected writer will be paid $50,000 per annum from February to December and be attached to the Creative Practices Area in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UTS.
