How do I apply? What do I need to do?

  1. View the list of 2012 Honours projects (PDF, 590kb).
  2. Talk to supervisors about the projects you are interested in.
  3. Decide on the project and supervisor, and obtain your potential supervisor’s consent to supervise you.
  4. Email your selected supervisor to confirm your intention to carry out the Honours project. Make sure you also CC (copy) in this email Dr Brad Murray (Brad.Murray@uts.edu.au), the Director of the School’s Honours Committee.
  5. Download and complete the UTS Direct Application Form Autumn 2012 for the admission to do Honours at UTS: Science and the Faculty of Science Supplementary Application Form. You will require the assistance of your potential supervisor to complete the Faculty of Science Supplementary Application form. The Direct Application form will provide you with the closing dates for application and how and where to lodge the forms.
  6. The principal supervisor and student collaboratively complete the SoE Honours Research Proposal Form and submit this form to the School’s Honours Director via email (Brad.Murray@uts.edu.au) by October 31 for an Autumn (beginning-of-the-year) start to Honours or May 31 for a Spring (mid-year) start to Honours
  7. The School’s Honours Committee reviews the proposal and the risk management plan. At this stage, any questions raised by the Committee are relayed to the principal supervisor for consideration and response.
  8. Once all questions have been addressed to the satisfaction of the Committee, the project is approved by the School’s Honours Committee and the principal supervisor and the student are informed by the Honours Director via email.

Importance notice:
Please be aware that submission of these forms is an expression of interest only and does not guarantee placement in the SoE Honours Program.
